The second presidential debate

The most telling moment in the debate last night was when McCain admitted: “My father was often away from home. He was at sea… serving our country.”
He was at sea! How can a four-year-old child even understand that troubling concept? Your father is out in the middle of a vast stretch of blue liquid! Will he ever return? Why must he go off to “sea”? The confusion and anxiety of that four-year-old John McCain forced him into a life of crashing fighter planes, of compulsive gambling, of superstitious omens, of the love of war.
But poor John! All the gambling, fighter plane-smashing and lucky rabbit feet on earth will never return your Admiral father to your grasping infant arms!
